COPING in the Police Force. Children of Prisoners, Interventions and Mitigations to Strengthen Mental Health

This briefing, developed by POPS gives an over view of the important, international COPING project and highlights aspects which are relevant to the UK Police force's involvement with children of offenders e.g. child friendliness in the Criminal Justice System with regard to home searches, arrest, and age appropriate communication during legal proceedings. Further, there is an overview of the importance of maintaining contact with a parent in custody, and public awareness and policy recognition. Four specific recommendations for the UK police force are made based on the aspects mentioned.
