The Family Advice and Support Team (FAST) in HMP Onley works with prisoners, their families and outside agencies to improve family ties and relationships. Within HMP Onley, FAST advise prisoners on induction about family contact and of the support available to them and their families. The Triple P parenting course is run for prisoners with children under ten years, and FAST also facilitate a group for parents of teenagers. In addition to these courses, FAST provide one-to-one parenting support, signpost to external and internal agencies and facilitate communication between social care and prisoners. FAST are also able to assist prisoners to reunite with their families, where appropriate. FAST's work with surrounding local authorities includes assisting children's social care teams with common assessment frameworks (CAFs) and case conferences, working with CAFCASS (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service) and contributing to post adoption work. FAST's links and work with local authorities often supports families and prisoners to develop more trust in social care services and change sometimes negative views of local authority professionals.
