'Understanding your child' is an online parenting course developed by the Solihull Approach team, available to parents in certain prisons.
The course aims to help parents understand their child's behaviour; why they might be angry, have a temper tantrums or trouble sleeping. The session includes a range of interactive activities, quizzes, video clips and practical handouts. Consisting of 11 sessions, each taking about 20 minutes, the course is currently available to parents at the following establishments: HMP Durham HMP Leeds HMP Lewes HMP Manchester HMP The Mount HMP Portland The sessions are free of charge to parents at these prisons, and are available to any other parent, carer or grandparent at the cost of £39.
